The western Chilcotin Plateau is a beautiful, slightly remote area that boasts abundant birdlife, wildlife, fishing, and scenic hiking. It is sometimes referred to as “The Last Frontier” for it’s unspoilt and largely undeveloped wilderness. Tweedsmuir Provincial Park, the largest Provincial park in British Columbia, is about 1/2 hour drive from the Resort.
Activities such as day-hikes, canoeing, fishing, bird-wathcing, and general sightseeing are available. There are also spectacular local tours by floatplane from Nimpo Lake. The nearby communities of Anahim Lake and Nimpo Lake are quiet and offer several small provision stores, with post office and liquor agent.

In the past decade the area has been “discovered” by worldwide tourism, with interest growing rapidly from across BC and Europe. Summer visitors tend to be in the 30-65 age group, while winter clientele is mainly workers in the area for several days at a time, or snowmobilers. The busy summer season runs from mid-May to the beginning of October.
The ecosystem of the Chilcotin is unique, with rare grasslands areas and more rugged areas adjacent to the Pacific Coast Mountains. It is close to the popular Bella Coola Valley, which is a completely different coastal rainforest ecosystem and part of the Great Bear Rainforest. Such diverse ecosystems spanning the relatively compact 450 km of Highway 20 is rare in North America.
